On-fire-able

Snow is On-Fire-able

Last night, we went to 21st street and walked the river parkway to the fire-pit in West Haven. We had a campfire and made snowball fights more entertaining by dousing them in gasoline, then throwing them at Derek. I think it would be more of a fun little party favor than an actual weapon in a snowball fight ("Officer, i don't know how he got third degree burns on his face, i just threw a snowball") Plus, i watched some cop point a gun at some kids throwing snowballs on youtube... i can't imagine if he saw that shit.

In other news, I took Anthony to the mall to see Santa Claus today. Last year I took him and the guy they hired to play santa claus was some mexican dude that looked a little homeless. Needless to say, Newgate Mall Santa Version 2.0 was a big upgrade from last year.

on-fire-able |ôn|-|fīr|-|ˈābəl|

2009

2009 was a decent season. I wanted to do more; accomplish some amazing things, but never did. I blame it all on myself. I pissed away the winter last year, got caught up in a shitty relationship with a manipulative narcissist, jumped into a job that I knew would require more effort and more attendance than a bike racer can afford, and I continuously fell victim to my negative self-talk.

2009 was a good year, don't get me wrong. I learned a lot about racing. I learned how to be a good teammate (I hope), and spent a week in May speaking with a russian accent. I learned that i can sleep anywhere during a race: on the side of the road, in a van, on a cot next to the river, on a cot next to a pile of animal bones, and that you shouldn't take a nap on a sidewalk in Bend because you will be harassed by a cop that thinks you're homeless.

I got to be a part of a team with a good group of people. I gained some confidence. I lived in the woods for a while, like a mountain man.

2010 will be here in a little more than one week and I can't wait.

When hearts attack!

I went balls out on the treadmill today and my heart almost exploded. It was the most intense chest pain I've ever had. It felt like my heart was going to hatch into a baby chick and the baby chick was cracking away with its egg tooth at my atrium. Some rather uncomfortable shit.

I've been mixing up the routine with some cross training. A little swimming, a little running, a little outside, a lot of trainer rides, with just the right amount of weight training for seasoning. Its a soufflé of fitness.

WHITE POWdER!

It was snowing sideways today when Ben and I went riding. Ben's finally back on the bike from his knee injury and was happy to be riding again. It's awesome that under the most miserable conditions, we laugh and crack jokes. I'd hate to ride with anybody less crazy and funny than Ben, especially during a snow storm. I think anybody else would have bitched out and stayed inside.
